California Sues Federal Government, Demanding Gun Kits Be Treated as Firearms

California's attorney general filed suit against the Trump administration on Tuesday, demanding that gun kits be subject to the same regulations as firearms. Gun kits are commonly referred to as “ghost guns,” because they can be sold without a background check and usually are not required to have a serial number.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is asking a federal judge in San Francisco to force the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to change its policy and declare that gun kits are the same as firearms. The agency decided that gun parts were not firearms . . .
